From: What's his lambda? A statistical analysis of the NFL
draft
By Brian J. Reicha, Jarad B. Niemib, and Curtis B. Storliea

"The covariate with highest inclusion probability (0.63) is college winning percentage. Of the covariates considered here, no measure of individual collegiate achievement predicts NFL success; only a track record of leading a team to success suggests a college player will make a solid professional quarterback."

Dizzle and I have had this arguement before. Dizzle stated that almost all of the good NFL QBs either put up big numbers or were on successful teams in college.

About the only starter in the NFL I can find that fails this test is Matt Hasselback.

A few others, like Brad Johnson and Tom Brady, never really played in college.

There are several comps to Edwards that struggled in the NFL. Brock Huard is the closest to Edwards that I see.

Dizzle, his stats weren't good and his record even worse. Here's a link:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=137101
(Although, I think you knew the answer when you asked that.)

I agree that Edwards is a very risky pick and if he goes as the 3rd QB overall, then that team will have made a big error.

Are they any historical parallels of players with lousy collegiate careers doing well in the NFL?
