Fresno State QB Tom Brandstater Scouting Report Height: 6-5, Weight: 220
Strengths: Excellent size and frame…underrated accuracy…has enough savvy and composure to deal with the NFL pass rush…continues to progress nicely as his college career continued…matriculating from Fresno State, he may be an excellent developmental project for a NFL team operating a West Coast offense… Weaknesses: Arm strength is his number one concern…although the touch on his passes continues to develop, he still has a long way to go…playing in the WAC conference, he did not face physically imposing defenses on a regular basis…his delivery and throwing motion is not as smooth as many of the top tier QB prospects…deep ball leaves something to be desired…can he throw the deep out? Overall: Tom Brandstater has solid tools and has the physical stature that NFL teams look for, however, he should be considered a raw and developmental prospect at this point. It is possible as of now Tom Brandstater hasn’t reached the upper echelon in regards to strength and improving not only his arm strength, but his arm accuracy. There is some potential and upside to like here, but buyer beware, don’t reach for Tom Brandstater, you are looking at approximately a 5th-6th round selection. |
