Georgia RB Knowshon Moreno Scouting Report
Height: 5-11, Weight: 207
Strengths: Has the potential to be a special player at the next level… may only be listed at 207, but he plays tougher…played in the toughest conference that college has to offer, so should adapt well to the NFL level…doesn’t normally go down at first contact…makes defenders miss in the open field with regularity…possesses very good vision and cutback ability…a versatile back who can become a factor in the rush offense as well as passing attack…decent hands, doesn’t seem to fight the ball as a receiver…not your typical goal-line runner, and yet, has a knack for the end zone…play the game with a passion and shows rare leadership qualities out of a RB… Weaknesses: May not have the physical build that can withstand the full load at the NFL level, may have to be part of a running back by committee approach…speed is average, not overwhelming…like most any RB prospect, he will have to show that he can pass block to be utilized at full capacity…concern why the top quarterback prospect and the top running back prospect in the country couldn’t get the Bulldogs to reach their burgeoning potential…is there any element of Moreno’s game that is truly great? Overall: By now we have all seen the highlight tapes of Knowshon Moreno leaping over defenders as if he was an Olympic hurdler, but does he have the complete game to become a factor in the National Football League? It is difficult not to compare Knowshon Moreno to Cadillac Williams, prior to his severe injuries. Knowshon Moreno may not have that breakaway speed of a Adrian Peterson or Darren McFadden, but he has the best shot at becoming a three-down RB of any back in the 2009 NFL Draft. Knowshon Moreno does not have top ten talent, but anywhere in the middle of the 1st round sounds about right. |
