Ohio State RB Chris Wells Scouting Report
Height: 6-1, Weight: 237
Strengths: Big back who could be a physical presence...straight north and south runner that not many defenders want to get in the way of once he gets going…top goal-line back in the draft, has the ability to move the pile…strong runner, always seems to fall forward…not many backs are as big as Wells, and are agile enough to take on a full-time work load…size and speed combo is hard to beat...

Weaknesses: Not as versatile as many other backs are…essentially limited to a two-down RB due to his lack of receiving skills…lack of explosion is a concern regarding his pro potential…injuries hampered him at times…a heavy workload for several seasons in college may have put some additional wear on those tires…going to need to work on his blocking abilities…some questions about his work ethic and desire to play the game...tries to go around blockers instead of taking them on...

Overall: Chris Wells is an interesting prospect. He is not as dynamic as the other top prospects Knowshon Moreno or LeSean McCoy, however, Chris Wells it the most punishing back and if a NFL team is just looking for a pure runner, than Wells is your guy. Chris Wells is a poor man’s version of Larry Johnson as far he is a pure downhill runner that will offer you little to nothing in the receiving game. Some pundits have him as the top RB in the 2009 NFL Draft, just about all have him in the top three, regardless he should be a mid-later 1st round draft selection in the 2009 draft.
