2009 Updated Two Round Mock Draft
Picks 17-32
Round 2

Round 2
33. Detroit Lions - Eben Britton, OT, Arizona

Some see Britton as a right tackle, but he has the athleticism needed to handle the left side and is a great value here.

34. New England Patriots (From Kansas City) - Evander Hood, DT, Missouri

High motor player with strong intangibles would add some depth to the Patriots front three.

35. St. Louis Rams - Larry English, DE, Northern Illinois

Steve Spagnuolo needs a pass rusher and this guy has been one of the best in the country the past three years.

36. Cleveland Browns - LeSean McCoy, RB, Pittsburgh

Jamal Lewis has lost a step and averaged less than 4 yards a carry. McCoy has good speed and can help out as a receiver.

37. Seattle Seahawks - D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt

Former first rounder Kelly Jennings has struggled and Josh Wilson might be better inside. Moore lacks ideal height but has great ball skills.

38. Cincinnati Bengals - Donald Brown, RB, Connecticut

The Bengals need to bring in competition for Cedric Benson. Brown is a complete player who could immediately be the starter.

39. Jacksonville Jaguars - Sean Smith, CB, Utah

Drayton Florence was an a bust and let go. Selecting Smith will allow the Jaguars to move Brian Williams back to safety to replace Gerald Sensabaugh - or Smith could play safety.

40. Oakland Raiders - Alex Mack, C, California

Local product can replace Jake Grove on a line that needs help at virtually every position.

41. Green Bay Packers - Ron Brace, DT, Boston College

B.J. Raji's collegiate teammate can provide an anchor inside versus the run in the Packers new 3-4 defense and provide depth behind Ryan Pickett.

42. Buffalo Bills - Jared Cook, TE, South Carolina

Bills released Robert Royal and are fortunate to find Cook here. He is an explosive target and will continue to upgrade the Bills offense.

43. San Francisco 49ers - Louis Delmas, S, Western Michigan

Mark Roman is a huge liability and Delmas is a natural center fielder who will instantly upgrade the 49ers pass defense.

44. Miami Dolphins (From Washington) - Clint Sintim, OLB, Virginia

The Al Groh to Parcells link strikes again with an outstanding value pick to provide pressure on the QB opposite of Joey Porter.

45. New York Giants (From New Orleans) - Shawn Nelson, TE, Mississippi

Kevin Boss stepped up to replace Jeremy Shockey, but the Giants do not have much depth behind him. Nelson is a speedster that shows a willingness to block.

46. Houston Texans - Jarron Gilbert, DT, San Jose State

Gilbert is an explosive player who will be a huge upgrade over Travis Johnson.

47. New England Patriots (From San Diego) - James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State

"Animal" falls a lot further than most people expect, and may not represent the biggest area of need for the Pats but is a great value here.

48. Denver Broncos - Fili Moala, DT, USC

Moala provides much needed bulk inside for the Broncos. He could help as a defensive end immediately and move to nose tackle as he adds bulk.

49. Chicago Bears - Rashad Johnson, S, Alabama

Mike Brown is not expected back and Rashad Johnson is a hard worker with great intangibles that could immediately step into the starting lineup.

50. Cleveland Browns (From Tampa Bay) - Jairus Byrd, CB, Oregon

Nickel back Travis Daniels is gone and the Browns could use some competition for Brandon McDonald. Byrd is a natural playmaker.

51. Dallas Cowboys - Brian Robiskie, WR, Ohio State

Terrell Owens as gone and the Cowboys need to add depth at the position. Robiskie is a terrific football player who understands the game.

52. New York Jets - Coye Francies, CB, San Jose State

The Jets brought in Lito Shephard but that is likely only a one year solution. Francies could battle former teammate Dwight Lowery for the nickel role.

53. Philadelphia Eagles - Jamon Meredith, OG/OT, South Carolina

The Eagles will need to add depth to their offensive line if they plan on moving Shawn Andrews outside. Meredith can play either guard or tackle.

54. Minnesota Vikings - Max Unger, C, Oregon

Versatile linemen could immediately replace the departed Matt Birk in the starting lineup.

55. Atlanta Falcons - Patrick Chung, S, Oregon

A team leader and a devastating hitter, Chung would immediately replace Lawyer Milloy in the Falcons starting lineup.

56. Miami Dolphins - Juaquin Iglesias, WR, Oklahoma

After addressing defense with their first two picks, the Dolphins still get a good value on a playmaking receiver in Iglesias.

57. Baltimore Ravens - Mike Mickens, CB, Cincinnati

One of the more underrated players in the draft, Mickens is a natural playmaker who would be a great fit for the Ravens as a nickelback.

58. New England Patriots - William Moore, S, Missouri

Moore is a great value here and could evolve into a Rodney Harrison/Lawyer Milloy type player if he can take the job from James Sanders.

59. Carolina Panthers - Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech

Julius Peppers may be in Carolina for the last year and Johnson is the same type of physical specimen, even if he has yet to put it together on the field.

60. New York Giants - Sen'Derrick Marks, DT, Auburn

Marks has fallen down draft boards some, but the Giants could use more depth at defensive tackle and Marks is stout versus the run.

61. Indianapolis Colts - Louis Murphy, WR, Florida

Murphy may not be the most herald receiver in the class but he has deceptive quickness and could be an immediate replacement for Marvin Harrison.

62. Tennessee Titans - Paul Krueger, DE, Utah

Krueger is the type of versatile and explosive rusher that the Titans have built their defense around.

63. Arizona Cardinals - Connor Barwin, OLB, Cincinnati

The Cardinals could use more depth at outside linebacker and Barwin is an explosive pass rusher.

64. Pittsburgh Steelers - Pat White, QB/WR, West Virginia

Local product would add an exciting extra dimension that offense has used well in the past. Pittsburgh is deep enough that it can make this type of luxury pick.

Best players left:
Cornelius Ingram, TE, Florida
Eric Wood, C, Louisville
Duke Robinson, OG, Oklahoma
Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma
Lawrence Sidbury, DE, Richmond
